Vicki Cheal - Ski Expert"High altitude skiing, fantastic for families and intermediates. Magnificent sea views from the slopes. great tapas meals in the restaurants/bars - try out the Champagne bar when skiing back down into the village! Not as busy as French Alps and the Spaniards like to take it easy in the mornings so make the most of those empty runs first thing! All gondolas too (apart from 1 t-bar to access 1 slope) so great for boarders as well as skiers"SIERRA NEVADA
Ski holidays to Sierra Nevada offer the unique opportunity to visit local attractions such as Costa del Sol and Granada (which is just 30 minutes away!). Off the slopes there are several large spas to enjoy swimming or relaxing in the many Saunas, Jacuzzis or steam rooms.
Sierra Nevada has great access to lifts and other amenities, all within walking distance. So great in fact that you can practically walk out of the hotel, go next door, pick up your skis and then jump on the lift! With a British ski school in Sierra Nevada, there is no need to worry about the language barriers in lessons either!
What we love about Sierra Nevada is that you are sure to find fun, sun and laughter in the resort. It is home to around 30 restaurants and 28 bars ideal for joining in with the vibrant Spanish après ski atmosphere. All of these offer great value for money, and if you are on a bit of a budget, it is good to know that it's not uncommon to find a 3-course meal for around 10 euros at lunchtime!
Being Spain, hotels host cabaret in the evenings to entertain or you can pop into a small traditional tapas bar and enjoy a glass of Rijoca with some free tapas. So if you are looking for a unique, memorable ski experience, then look no further as Sierra Nevada is great for families and for groups!
SKI AREA OVERVIEW
With Granada less than an hour away, even the most enthusiastic ski weekender could be forgiven for thinking that the snow might not be as good here as other destinations across Europe!
But how wrong they would be for, at 2100m, the Sierra Nevada skiing area is among Europe's highest and has been known for having seasons that start in November and lasting until early May. With such a great location and an advanced snowmaking system, Sierra Nevada is possibly the only resort that can practically guarantee sun and snow!
