Alpe d'Huez For Families

If you're looking for a family ski holiday to Alpe d'Huez, then good news - you should shortlist this snow sure resort. Alpe d'Huez has been awarded Famille Plus status by the French Ministry of Tourism thanks to its excellent services and facilities for families with children.

Famille Plus label

Alpe d'Huez has an excellent range of family-friendly accommodation, good ski schools and a wide range of activities to keep children of all ages busy. With the Famille Plus label, you can expect most of the hotels in the resort to meet the needs of younger visitors, such as providing appropriate beds in the rooms, bedding, children's equipment and entertainment.

SKI SCHOOLS

You can book lessons through the links on our Alpe d'Huez Ski Schools page.

ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

The resort's sports centre (Palais des Sports) close to the Hotel Royal Ours Blanc, has a great range of activities for children, including climbing lessons (8 - 13 years old), archery, football competitions (8 - 12 year olds), compressed air shooting (over 10 year olds), as well as a swimming pool, and paddling pool.

Also at the Palais de Sports is In'Vertigo, an indoor adventure course where children between the ages of 4 - 6 can climb, swing and tightrope walk around the suspended obstacle course.

The Palais de Sports really is the place to go, as you'll also find 3 brand new escape rooms here. Your mission will be to solve the puzzles in teams of 2 to 6 people. Will you be able to beat the buzzer in less than an hour? Available for families and children over 5 years old, the prices for the Alpe d'Huez escape rooms range from 23 euros per person.

Ice skating is available for children aged 3 or above at the Alpe d'Huez Open Air Ice Rink. Entry is free for children under 5, and is usually around 5 euros for other children up to the age of 15. Children will be able to have a go at sledging, ice skating and curling, and there is also a children's play area on site.

If you don't fancy sledging on ice and prefer a softer landing, Alpe d'Huez has some dedicated sledging areas for all the family. This includes an area for the little ones in the Bergers sector (between the Marmottes 1 and Romains chairlifts). This is a 20m wide and 50m long track that allows a safe and secure descent!

A 4-season toboggan run on illuminated rails is available, also in the Bergers sector, which is a 1km descent of turns, jumps, twists and tunnels - great fun for all the family.

Lastly, if you want a more chilled activity for the kids, then head to the library (57 Route du Coulet). This huge 315m2 space contains a vast selection of books for children and adults, including novels, comics, magazines, documentaries, guidebooks, mountain books and DVDs.
