PLACES FOR LUNCH
Up on the mountain, there are plenty of places to eat depending on what you are looking for but it does tend to be more expensive than down in Meribel Centre (but normally better value for money than in Courchevel and Val Thorens!). If you are looking for good value for money then Meribel centre is definitely the place to head for lunch with many of the restaurants really easy to access from the slopes, such as Scott’s underneath the Hotel Doron which does a great range of burgers for a reasonable price. You can get here by using the escalator just off of the Doron blue run back down towards Chaudanne. For some restaurants up on the slopes then Le Rond Point does table service with pizzas and lots more as well as a snack bar that serves great noodles and burgers!
Head to the other side of the valley though and you will find some great restaurants for a nice long lunch such as Les Cretes which can be found right on the Tougnete ridge. Les Cretes has a lovely rustic interior and a beautiful terrace with great views of the 3 Valley’s, don’t believe us? Well, you best go try it for yourself – just be sure to book first as their Savoyard dishes are incredibly popular!
PLACES FOR DINNER
Despite being known as a quiet town, that doesn’t mean you have to eat in your hotel every night. We have compiled a list of our seasonaires favourite places to go:
Just down the road from the Hotel Verseau, on Rue Emile Machet is the La Montagne creperie and pizzeria, a firm favourite of Ski Weekend guests as well as the reps due to the convenient location and the price. For those of you who aren’t sold on the idea of a pizza there are other dishes on offer, or why not go for a savoury crêpe? Or just skip mains altogether and have one filled with Nutella and some extra Nutella!
On the top of our list is La Grillade, which is under new ownership and is located close to the gondola. Decorated with an alpine charm and offering traditional, Savoyard and Italian dishes starting from 13euros it’s certainly not one to be missed.
