COURCHEVEL FOR FAMILIES

Courchevel 1650, also known as Courchevel Moriond, is a superb destination for families looking to enjoy a ski holiday in the French Alps. When compared to the other Courchevel villages, Courchevel 1650 stands out for its family-friendly atmosphere. The resort is situated at a slightly lower altitude, providing a quieter, less crowded experience without sacrificing the quality of the skiing or the stunning alpine views.

The gentle, wide slopes of Courchevel 1650 are ideal for beginners and young skiers, making it an excellent place for children to learn and build their confidence on the snow. Beyond skiing, Courchevel 1650 offers a wealth of activities and amenities designed to keep the whole family entertained.

CHALET ACCOMMODATION

The resort’s accommodation options are well-suited for families, with many hotels and chalets offering family rooms, kid-friendly services, and a welcoming atmosphere.

SkiWeekends currently offers one chalet in Les Gets, found in a central village location with great access to the shops and slopes. Chalet Mouria sleeps between 18 - 21 people, the perfect size for getting to know fellow guests and families.

SKI SCHOOLS

You can book lessons with a variety of different ski schools in Courchevel 1650, each offering slightly different learning methods, aims and objectives. ESF is a good all-round choice, however there are other options to choose from.

We would recommend New Generation Ski and Snowboard school, one of Europe’s most respected coaching institutions. You can book lessons via the Courchevel 1650 Ski Schools page.

ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

If the kids are tired of skiing, there are dedicated sledging zones at top of the Tovets ski lift in Courchevel, and by the Belle Etoile holiday complex in Courchevel Moriond (1650). You can also enjoy a dedicated adventure luge track - 2km of adrenaline-fuelled run down a 15% incline with banked turns through the forest from Courchevel to Courchevel Village. It's open every day and evening during the winter and is free with your lift pass.

Other fun snow zones especially designed for children can be found above Courchevel Moriond in the Indian Camp. With the opportunity for face paint and role playing characters, dancing and singing around the fire and much more for the kids to enjoy.

For the water lovers, in Courchevel Village (on the way to Courchevel 1650) is the Aquamotion swimming and leisure complex. Not just a swimming pool to practice lengths, Aquamotion is complete with slides and pools for the kids and warm hot tubs and jacuzzis to enjoy. The water park area is called Aqualudique and prices start from 11 euros per session.

In Courchevel, there is Forum Centre which has an indoor ice skating rink, an indoor climbing wall and a bowling alley, perfect for those white-out days when the snow is coming down too hard! There is also an indoor adventure mini-trail where children from seven years can scale Nepalese bridges, monkey bridges, ladders and giant spider's webs.

If skiing all day doesn’t wear out the kids, then clip on your skis after dark. During the school holidays Verdons by Night opens on a Wednesday evening. This sweeping blue run is illuminated by floodlights, almost like magic, and becomes a night-time playground! It is included in your 6 day lift pass, so you don’t need to stop skiing when the slopes normally close. You can jump on the Verdons gondola at the 1850 snow font and keep taking more laps.
