Courchevel 1850 resort

COURCHEVEL 1850 - THE RESORT

Courchevel is made up of four different villages, Courchevel 1850 (now known as just Courchevel), Courchevel 1650 (now Courchevel Moriond), Courchevel 1550 (Courchevel Village) and Courchevel 1300 (Courchevel Le Praz). Each with significant differences in character and price.

Courchevel 1850 was one of the first purpose-built ski resorts so you will find that it has great access to the slopes. The resort is very popular for ski holidays as it is in a great location, has fantastic snow reliability and being part of the Three Valleys means you will also have access to 600km of piste. It’s easy to access to the slopes along with a fantastic range of ski schools and the central la Croisette area make it a great resort for families.

Courchevel 1850, in particular, is well known for its glitz and glamour, drawing in a wealthy crowd including many VIPs and celebrities. Home to two six-star hotels and seven restaurants sharing 11 Michelin stars between them with three of those restaurants boasting two Michelin stars each, it’s not a resort to stay in if you are planning a holiday on a tight budget. The streets are lined with designer shops, jewellers, and top class restaurants, sometimes the resort is referred to as “Paris on Ice”.

For late night après ski, there is a choice of bars and clubs to select between, ranging from highly sophisticated through to loud and lively, you will find the majority of the bars have outstanding service and are mainly positioned around the heart of the resort. If you are wondering past any of the top luxury hotels, then it’s worth popping in as you will find top quality cocktails and wines in beautiful lounges.
