"La Plagne is often referred to as the intermediate’s paradise on account of the wide, sweeping blues that litter the Paradiski area. That said, there really is something here for all ability levels; whether you’re just finding your feet on you first ski holiday or craving a steep challenge, the sheer scale of the Paradiski area means variety is in abundance - this is what makes La Plagne so ideal for mixed ability groups."

Great for: Snow sure, large ski area, variety of skiing, ski-in ski-out.

LA PLAGNE

Travel sustainably - leaf icon

La Plagne is one of the most famous high altitude ski areas in the world with 11 self-contained villages, each with their own identity and with direct access to the ski area. Nestled in the Tarentaise Valley of the French Alps, La Plagne offers an expansive playground for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. As part of the Paradiski ski area, it boasts an impressive 425km of interconnected pistes, making it one of the largest ski domains in the world. With its high-altitude villages, reliable snow cover, and diverse terrain, La Plagne is a popular choice for families, groups, and adventure seekers.

The resort is composed of several villages, each with its own unique character. Plagne Aime 2000, the highest point, offers a lively atmosphere with a wide range of accommodation options, shops, and restaurants. Plagne Villages is a more family-friendly option with a relaxed ambiance and plenty of activities for children. Belle Plagne, known for its stylish apartments and luxurious chalets, is a popular choice for those seeking a touch of elegance. Plagne Centre is the heart of La Plagne, connecting to other resort areas and offering a range of après-ski activities for all ages.  Plagne Montalbert, one of the lower villages, has a more sheltered, forested environmnet compared to some of the higher more exposed areas of La Plagne. With plenty of charm and appeal this village is ideal for families and those seeking a quieter alpine village experience.

Despite it's fragmented layout, ski holidays in La Plagne are often more popular than the Three Valleys, as the snow cover is very similar, but the accommodation prices are often a lot cheaper.

Beyond the slopes, La Plagne offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. Families can take a stroll through the charming villages, visit the local ice rink, or try their hand at snowshoeing. Après-ski options abound, with cozy bars, lively restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife scene. Whether you're seeking exhilarating skiing, family-friendly activities, or a relaxing mountain getaway, a ski holiday in La Plagne has something to offer everyone.

LA PLAGNE TOP TIPS
  • The first of our tips has to be for those needing an extra adrenaline rush! The Olympic bobsleigh run built for the 1992 Games offers you the chance to shoot down the 19 bends at high speed but booking in advance is a must.

  • La Plagne has plenty of choice for eating and drinking, mostly offering the traditional Savoyard dishes. If staying in Belle Plagne try the Face Nord or Matafan or the Ferme in Bellecote.

  • If you want to explore the off-piste potential it's best to hire a guide. The off-piste doesn't tend to get tracked out as quickly as other resorts so you can enjoy the powder for longer!

  • After a day skiing try the outdoor swimming pool in Plagne Bellecote. It's open from 3-8pm every afternoon (except Sundays). Don't worry, it's heated to 30 degrees!

  • Enjoy a hot chocolate or spot of lunch at Les Douz dous Praz.
