traditional alpine food in Morzine restaurants

PLACES FOR LUNCH

There are some stunning spots in the Portes du Soleil for a long lunch in the sunshine. Here are some restaurants on the slopes that we think are well worth a try!

La Paika restaurant, up near Les Gets, has a beautiful sunny terrace, stunning views, great food and wine and even barbecue buffets – all of this on a mountain in the snow? we hear you say. Well yes, it happens to be pretty famous! Choose from the barbecued meats or a choice of cold cut meat, a selection of local cheese, salads, sauces and fresh bread! This place is pretty popular so we recommend that you book ahead to avoid disappointment.

If you are heading over towards Avoriaz then be sure to try out Chez Flo. Set towards the base of Avoriaz, Chez Flo has a lovely terrace area with great food at reasonable prices. They have several traditional dishes on the menu as well as pasta dishes, burgers and set menu options as well. Another one to try would be the family-run restaurant ‘Les Ancelles’ in Les Brochaux, another with a lovely terrace and beautiful food – we specifically recommend the beef bourguignon – it's divine!

PLACES FOR DINNER

In the evening you will be spoilt for choice with places for eating out in Morzine. The Hotel Dahu has a lovely restaurant called ‘Le Petit D’ which serves gourmet dishes and Savoyard specialities to guests including the regional favourite ‘Tartiflette’ - a dish which has won over stomachs year after

year! Another popular restaurant is ‘Le Christiania’, a bistro in Les Gets with a warm atmosphere and a lovely fire by the bar to keep you going through the colder months! With a menu that changes daily, you also have an excuse to head back there for a second, third or fourth night if you enjoy it as much as we do!

Les Vents d’Anges in Morzine offers a fresh alternative to other restaurants in the resort, serving a mixture of  French dishes with a modern twist to them. Serving only the highest quality food, as well as food that you wouldn’t normally expect to see up in the mountains, Les Vents d’Anges is a great place to head for a nice meal out on short breaks to Morzine.
