PISTE MAP
SKI Area
Wengen is part of the 211km Jungfrau ski area, shared with neighbouring Grindelwald and Murren.
Beginners
There is a nursery slope in the centre of the village which is great for beginners although the snow can suffer in the afternoon sun. The slopes at Kleine Scheidegg and Mannlichen are great to progress onto; all easily accessible via cable car or train and from here the slopes of Grindelwald are easily accessible, meaning novice skiers can cover some distance.
Intermediates
Wengen and Grindelwald is an intermediate paradise with lots of long and gentle red runs. At the top of the Lauberhorn chair there are some great reds and over in Kleine Scheidegg you can see the cog railway winding its way up whilst you are winding down some long cruisy reds.
Advanced
Wengen hasn’t got a huge choice for advanced skiers but there are some spectacular off-piste* routes at the base of the Eiger surrounded by unbeatable scenery. Experts can try the famous Lauberhorn world cup piste and head over to Murren for some challenging black runs.
Snowboarders
There are some flat sections between runs so Wengen is best suited for more experienced snowboarders. The White Elements Park in Grindelwald has a half pipe, rails and some huge kickers.
*Off piste - Ski Weekends strongly advise that off piste skiing should only be undertaken when in the company of a professional ski instructor or guide.
